Johann Lafer, Germany´s number one TV chef and Styria´s "ambassador", again gave awards for the best proposals for the "European Spa World Steiermark" in three categories.
Having received the 2004 Styrian Tourism Prize and having taken the 1st place at the 2005 FM Idea Contest, Landlust won its third award within only two years.
This was to honour the commitment of the group that stood up to several top-class 4-star hotels.
Presently, the Landlust marketing association consists of 22 businesses, offering romantic old farmhouses in the heart of the East-Styrian countryside. All farmhouses are at least 100 years old, lovingly restored and furnished with historic objects.
Landlust was founded four years ago by the East Styrian EU Region Management within the EU Interreg Programme LoB (Living in East Styrian Farmhouses). The project is designed to save old farm architecture from deterioration. Through consultation, training and funding opportunities, landlords have been assisted in their effort to preserve their old farmhouses and make them available for new use.
The "Steirisches Thermenland" and "Oststeiermark" tourist boards execute the Landlust project.

Landlust wins the 2004 Styrian Tourism Prize
Landlust takes the first prize in "Idea and Product Development" from a field of 72 candidates in five categories.
"Our efforts have begun to pay off. We have succeeded in saving many old farmhouses in East Styria and making them available for new use. These efforts have been awarded the Styrian Tourism Prize", says Franz Majcen, member of the Landtag.
Landlust, a project of the East Styrian EU Region Management designed to save old farm architecture from deterioration for nearly three years, assists landlords in their effort to make their old houses available for new use through consultation, training and funding opportunities. The farmhouses are transformed into tasteful holiday homes. This way they are not only preserved but meet the demands of tourism.
